Time-Sensitive OOG Shipment to Europe

Polaris Projects, the specialised project logistics division of Polaris Shipping Agencies in the UAE, share a recent successfully executed project shipment to Europe.

One of the major challenges of the move was the time-sensitive nature of the shipment, with a strict delivery deadline compounded by transshipment delays and the over-dimensional challenge of the cargo. The operation demanded innovative planning and precise coordination to ensure a seamless multimodal delivery within the allotted timeframe.

The OOG shipment comprised of six pieces, each measuring 13.00 x 3.65 x 4.60m and weighing approximately 45mt. The cargo was safely loaded as breakbulk on a container vessel, utilising multiple flat-racks that were lashed and secured under the strict supervision of nominated surveyors.

Despite the logistical complexities, Polaris Projects successfully completed the delivery on schedule, meeting and exceeding the expectations of all stakeholders involved.

The specialised project logistics division of Polaris Shipping Agencies in the UAE have successfully completed a major logistics project involving the delivery of airport passenger buses and aircraft container and pallet loaders to several airports across the Middle East.

Originating from Europe, the shipment was managed by Polaris UAE, acting as the handling agent for multiple European suppliers. The project involved time-sensitive deliveries of heavy and oversized airport equipment to designated destinations, demanding precise coordination and execution.

Polaris efficiently collaborated with their network of carefully vetted international partners to ensure smooth handling and a timely delivery. The entire project was completed ahead of schedule, reflecting Polaris' expertise in managing complex logistics operations.

The total shipment, amounting to 4,100ftn with individual units weighing up to 42mtn, was meticulously planned and executed. Deliveries were coordinated in alignment with each airport's operational schedule to avoid disruptions.

Polaris' scope of work included route surveys, obtaining necessary government permits, and overseeing the end-to-end coordination of the project - all of which were critical to the successful completion.

One of the standout operations recently executed by Polaris Shipping Agencies involved the mobilisation of a Gas Turbine Rotor weighing 120mtn from Europe to the Middle East.

As with most mission-critical industrial components, the movement of this rotor came with a non-negotiable delivery deadline, demanding careful orchestration from start to finish.

The Polaris Project Logistics Team initiated the planning process well in advance, conducting comprehensive feasibility studies, detailed route surveys, and securing all road transport permissions and escorts ahead of the vessel's arrival. This level of foresight was crucial in avoiding delays and ensuring uninterrupted flow from the port to the delivery site.

Upon arrival at the discharge port, Polaris coordinated a smooth offloading operation, followed by precise inland transportation using specialised heavy-lift equipment. Throughout each phase, the Polaris team maintained close coordination with port authorities, transport agencies, and site engineers to ensure complete alignment and safety compliance.

Despite the challenges posed by the cargo's weight, dimensions, and the strict delivery schedule, it was successfully delivered to the receiver's site on schedule, without incident or delay. The operation reinforced Polaris' ability to deliver results under pressure and uphold their promise of performance-driven logistics.
